Diecast Year 2011 – Bikes

I would consider this year as the best diecast year both for bikes and car! Though the number are not doing justice but the model are!! With only 9 bikes/scooters in 1:12 and one each on 1:6 and 1:10 scales. This is one tough photo shoot because I could not find any favorites! because every model is hand picked… List includes 2 AUTOart and 9 Maisto. If I am cornered to pick a best from my list, I would pick the 1:6 Rossi’s MotoGP Ducati.

AUTOart Norton Commando 952 is the most expensive and by far the most detailed bike model I have set my hands on. And its the only model thats still in its original box, which is fortunately a windowed one..

Vespa is one of the most iconic mode of two wheeled transport to date, so how can a motorhead like me miss such a model in my collection! I been eyeing this model for some time, finally when the Modelart guys are ready to crack a deal, I just grabbed it with two hands!! Being an AUTOart model it shouts details all over..

Indian importers have got us quite a number of interesting Maistos, which includes some real nice 1:12 bike apart from 1:18 Cars! This KTM got me attention almost immediately and I dint even delay a second to bag this. The Model sports some clean black finish and feels a little heavy adding to the premium feel.

I always like Buell so as I found this model’s availability, I wanted this in my collection so made a hunt for this beauty and finally he is in my shelves.

These two bikes just made it to my shelves like a breeze! I was a little confused with the colors though and finally decided a red CBR and an orange Ninja ZX-10R to take place next to my Green ZX6R.

After watching the movie “Kinght and Day”, I wanted a Ducati Hypermotard so started my hunt for one on Ebay and found some on the international site and got curious to know its availablity in our local market. An Ebay.in search showed up these models, finally found these models in toys section in Landmark and reached home safely.

I am not a hero worshiper in any ways! But like MotoGP Champion Valentino Rossi for his attitude, style and the way he carry himself (both on track and on real life), so these bikes will give you no surprise!! When I visited Modelart Bangalore, I had a Maisto Hummer H1 in mind but the red color, which it is available on did not do any magic. So started looking for other alternative and found Valentino Rossi's Ducati MotoGP in 1:10scale and imediatly asked the vendor to pack it… But the vendor insisted that it would be nice if I see the 1:6 version and then decide which one to pack… What did I do? Packed them both and havin fun since then! Ok thats all the action in the two wheels section, please hold tight for the four wheels…

That Norton is on my wishlist too, but got a few others before I get to it.
Btw, that Rossi moto GP, the smaller one- is it really 1:12?
IIRC, Maisto made it in 1:6, 1:10 and 1:18 only.

    1. Thanks Gugga…
That AUTOart Norton is a master piece for sure!! You are right about the Rossi’s ride!!! it indeed is a 1:10..
      Sorry for the typo.
