Diecast Year – 2012

The year 2012 is called “Year Of The Water Dragon” but I can pretty well call it as “Year of Ducatis” or “Year of 1:12 Bikes” because seven Ducatis came home this year and also twelve 1:12 bikes, which includes five Ducatis. I also invited five Exotic Super Cars and three Big Brute SUVs in 1:18 scale. But the ticker was fire because of the 1:64 activity!! So the time has come to revive the memory of the year before saying good bye! As I had some bitter experiences with the importing last year, I went ahead and played a safe game this year!! Around 90% of purchase happened down here in Bangalore and the rest via Indian Online Sellers!

This year seem a little dull in terms of number but very exciting as the variety is vast! I have been eying the Pagani Zonda C12 and the Saleen S7 ever since day one!! The Aston Martin DBS and the Bentley Continental Supersports are those special entries which too top spots right away!! The Dodge Viper GTS 2013 model hit our showrooms almost the same time it was launched so I have to get it in for sure.

SUVs always takes the hot spot in my collection and this Hummer H1 Wagon and the long awaited Jeep Rescue Concept are some value adds to the exquisite nature of my SUV Garage. The AUTOart Landrover Discovery 3 which was a gift by my pap for my birthday is the best detailed SUV that got into my garage this year.

Now lets get into my Bike collection, this year the number of bike that came into my garage is more than bikes! Thanks to the maisto and newray importers and the makers for introducing more models in quick successions! This had seen more Red Machines than anything. Ducati Bikes numbered five this year, making it the top brand for this year.

There are few more other bikes into 1:12 collection as well. Actually the most important find of this year is the 2008 Yamaha R1 made by NewRay… MV Augusta Brutale 910R takes the runner up place and the Kawasaki ZX14 takes the great escape award as it got missed out by the package guys on two successive orders!!

My regular readers know that I am a diehard Rossi Guy! So this years 1:10 scale Ducati Desmosedici GP12 is a natural addition to my Moto GP pit stop! This is the only 1:10 come in this year as I was not some much excited by the rest of the Moto GP launches!

Finally I also opened up for a new section for 1:18 Bikes in my collection! Though this is not expected to grow at a rapid pace but will give add pep to my photo sessions and add excitement to the Display Case!
