Bburago is on a roll and their newer releases like the Signature Series Ferrari Daytona SP3 and Ferrari 296 GTB Assetto Fiorano are taking all the limelight for this year, I am little excited for some of the last year release, which started showing up in our local toy stores. It’s the Bugatti Bolide in 1:18 scale and I been eyeing this for some time and finally picked it last month from a local Toy Store called “Evergreen Toddlers & Toys” and I paid INR.5750/-
This Bburago Bugatti Bolide (1:18 scale) comes in many package styles and what we got in India is this blue/black combo, which we being seeing for quite some time. There are other styles (check this cool package click here) of boxes that are far more cooler than this boring box but I am not a boxed collector, so not that big deal for me. Then there is a Maisto’s version as well which gets its traditional package, which is Sam’s exclusive I believe.
My Bugatti Bolide being a blue shade, works perfectly with the box color scheme. The right and left side of the box is quite plain and gives the vibe of the Ferrari Race & Play edition but in color blue. In fact both boxes are almost identical (check the similarities here) with slight change to the graphics and color schema.
The back side of the box is finished in black with pyramids texture and a big Bburago logo. This again looks very similar to the Ferrari Race & Play version of Bburago. This Bugatti Bolide just like any other diecast scale model Bburago is made in China and that is mentioned in the back side of it.
I am so happy that all the legal informations are moved to the lower part of the box making the package far more premium. This also shows the other brands that Bburago is associated with and this list is rather impressive. Buburago used to have lot more brand license, which either are lost over time or moved to Maisto, which I am not sure.
Unboxing this Bug is straight forward… You open the side tabs, pull the inner structure all the way out and here you are! Though the box is very much similar to all the other Bburago’s lineup but the material used to make the package and colours used makes it somewhat special.
My first Bburago was Fiat 500 Abarth Edition back in 2010 and the unboxing experience is almost the same. The outside was very similar but the inner skeleton that hold the car in place is very different and the material is very eco friendly… Yeah its fully made of cardboard and that to quite sturdy as styrofoam.
Apple is making a big deal of their new package and making their packages eco-friendly… Bburago is doing it silently and subtly to make this world better. Bburago has always being using very less plastic and even the styrofoam part not updated to cardboard. All that is made of plastic is this base, which put even smaller footprint of plastic to the landfills.
This Bugatti Bolide is a sleek scale model and it looks ten times better outside the box… The body work looks cool just like real car… There is bit of matt finish to the regular polished black body. You can truly enjoy the bodywork and decal detail once you take this bug out and I am so happy that this Bugatti Bolide is out and sitting in my display.
This Bugatti Bolide is a sleek hyper car… Yeah I mean sleek literally as it can tear through track at very high speeds without breaking a sweat. This being a track attack tool is build to go fast and all this is done with those extra fins and skirts and spoilers and they make this Bugatti standout from everything else.
The profile view of this beautiful Bugatti Bolide shows how sleek this bug is and shows its track heritage. This Bugatti Bolide gets its design hues from LeMan and this view shows it all, lower stance, massive spoilers and fins to keep it glued to the track. The rear-end reminds me of Bugatti Grand Turismo even the EB imprint.
The rear 3/4 is where this Bugatti shines bright. There is not like this Bugatti Bolide and the X like rear end arrangement is just unique! The exhaust is right in the centre and there are four pipes! There is a F1 style hazards light also right below the exhaust set. And the rear diffuser is also a nice touch.
This Bugatti Bolide is not my first 1:18 scale Bugatti but my fourth… I have a Bugatti EB110 by Bburago, Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport by Rastar, Bugatti Chiron by Bburago and finally this Bugatti Bolide. I like the Chiron the most of them all and this Bolide is giving it a good run for its money. I wanted the Bugatti Chiron in blue but I could only find a red and I went for it, which stole my heart in a flash.
As a custom I do a size comparison and I picked this very Bugatti Chiron for it. Yeah Bugatti Chiron and Bolide are totally different beast and made for totally different purpose but looks like a good contender for this size comparison. The Bolide looks far more smaller and lower to the ground, which I am not sure is how the real cars are but I doubt it. The ground clearance is a bit more and if this would have been lower, then it would look cooler.
Just for fun I added a Hotwheels Bugatti Bolide, which is roughly 1:64scale and looks super super small! I have to give it to Mattel for getting this tiny Bolide so good. If you don’t put these two side by side you would not even feel some details missing… yeah the one dollar Hotwheels really good.
This Bugatti Bolide tips the scale at 280gms, which neither heavy not light… But one thing is for sure, diecast scale models are getting lighter and lighter with every passing years and this Bolide is hovering into the resin territory, which is not a very good sign, in my opinion.
This is one of the very few 1:18 scale model, that got its freedom within few months from purchase… yeah I picked this last month and he is free with a month, which is great for it and me. I am super excited to do an in-depth review as this is so good and has so many details to talk about over coffee. So hold on to our social channel (Facebook and Instagram) for more scale model coverage. Till then… Ciao.
