Acme Trading Co. AKA Acme Diecast has been giving us heavy dose of American Muscle Cars in the form of fine detailed diecast cars in 1:18 scale… Their product lineup is filled with crazy cool car like Mustangs that we have only seen in old magazines and vintage cars shows! One such car is this 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1, not just a regular Mach 1 but a Sidewinder Special (Ford sales promotion) in Calypso Coral paint finish!
We know Acme diecast does good job with their offering in 1:18 scale but this one looks a bit more special as it has lots of fine details like the decal on the rear fender making it truly special car as intended! The first and far most I like the paint finish and in the pictures they make other details stand out. Though this being a pre-production sample (may be final version), I like the detailing already to the core.
This 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Sidewinder Special comes with most if not all the features the original Sidewinder Special packed by Ford for its beloved customers! The decal (strips and Sidewinder motif) comes pre-installed unlike the real car, which came in a separate box! These decals look so clean and sharp, you can practically enjoy it like a very high end product that could cost far higher than this Mustang by Acme Diecast.
This Acme Mustang is very cool with opening parts like doors and hood… But the real kicker is the exterior as most classic car have far more details on the outside than on the inside. The painted wheels and the real spoiler looks appropriately scaled. The radio antenna (very cool vintage touch) on the front hood is a detail that need lot of attention! The tail otherwise is as simple as it gets!
As this 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Sidewinder Special gets opening doors, the interior is done with quite some love as is the exterior. The seats and the upholstery are done nicely in a single tone of black and the seat belts adds a bit of finesse. The wood trim and the chrome details gives this Ford Mustang Mach 1 the much needed classic touch. The hood opens up to in this 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Sidewinder Special and the engine details is top class in my view, it is comparable to Exoto diecast models.
The painted engine in tandem with detailing like the battery and wires/cables adds excitement under the hood! Like most other Acme diecast models this 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Sidewinder Special will be produced in limited numbers (750 pieces only) so pre order (www.acmediecast.com) if you don’t want to miss it. This 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Sidewinder Special will be coming out in August/September 2022 and would be priced around $140.
